Munny: Illustrated Man, pencil stage

I was dusting off some shelves in my new room, when I saw my D.I.Y. Munny that I had bought a while back for a competition. I always knew that I wanted the Munny to be roughtly based off of Ray Bradbury's The Illustrated Man. It was just a matter of finding the right tattoo imagery to use in order to make it all pretty and such. Fortunately for me, my roommate gave me a copy of Tattoo Encyclopedia, full of tons of ideas and examples.

Right now this is still as the Pencil stage, with lots and lots of Shureguard. Hopefully when I get back from Europe, I'll be able to paint him in flesh tones and finish inking the imagery. Until then Enjoy what photos decided to load.

Close-up of "Canvas Crow's Feet"

So the painting fell in the pallet a few times and ended up with what I'm calling "canvas crow's feet". I may be mildly talented, but those random background shadows are little mountains of paint that would not be smoothed down.

Either way, Tad-dah.

Hopefully no more cup still lifes for a while

Fin! Last of the Cups!

Finally I'm working on the last of the coffee cup series. As you can see, I have been in a rather blue mood, or maybe its more of a teal transposed into a 'tude. When it finishes drying I'll add a better close up. For now enjoy.

J'ai tasses de café

Its been another week of still lifes (in prep for bigger more grandiose paintings). Yes more coffee cups. What better way to combine my two loves: coffee and frustration?

8x10" Acrylic, The cup was sitting on a paper towel, it made a pretty design in the light.

8x10" Acrylic, this one looks dark on my monitor, and reflective surfaces are a butt to paint.
