Casual Man on a Beach

This was such a bad idea from the beginning and without live models to blame it on too.

So here;s the skinny. 5"x7" acrylic. I was hoping to get some niche postcards out of it. but ney.

Progress Photos.

Close up: Ignore the gloss medium. The final finish will be matte. I use gloss to aide in glazing

Rouge of Rusted Man

Some touch ups but I tried painting with a wet on wet technique. I like the spray paint background. I have more experiments to come.

100th Blog

I found this on my book shelf, and I forgot that When I made. All I know is carving indoors--bad idea. I think I'm still coughing up sediment.

Tufted Titmouse

Titmousies are common on the Cape. Most of them where I live are tame enough to land in your hand and chew some seeds

So of course I wanted to paint it.

BAM!

Here's my pallet. I've been making an effort to use less than my normal 37flavors of tints tones and shades.

But I did use silver, blue interference, and titanium white for the background. Which makes the bird seem slightly more real in certain lighting.

Or just simply suited to the right room.

I think it looks classy.

4/24/11 UPDATE:

I received this in my newly painted mail box after many week of stylishly received mail.

I talked to the Post Master about it, he said "don't let this guy ruffle your feathers. If he takes your mail, its a federal crime. And then the real fun begins"

Silver Chickadee

I had some time this week to finish a sketch I started a while back. I wanted tor try a slower method of working with acrylics that utilizes a ton of glaze medium and a reflective silver under painting. I kinda like it. I don't know how practical this would be on a larger scale but here is the finial image for print.
